Date Night

January 31, 2017

Occasion-based outfits can be tricky. I’m always trying to find the balance of dressing up while not looking like I tried too hard while simultaneously looking a bit expensive on a budget. Because special occasions call for a special outfit, most of the time, that means shopping for something new. I personally always have my go-to sites to shop for a night out, holiday, or even something as common as date night. One of them is Lulu’s – which is actually where the dress and heels are from!

Since it’s winter here in NYC, I figured I should try layering this look without looking like a marshmallow… as I usually do when layering. For my date night out, I paired this gorgeous satin (almost lamé looking) blush dress with a thin knit turtleneck and pointed toe heels that tie around the foot and ankles (preferred over stiletto black pumps with no tie, as these help keep my feet in!) I topped it off with my black biker coat to add a bit of an edge to the look. As well as warmth. 🙂

What’s great about this dress is that I can pair it with a few different outfits. Wear it with an oversized sweater, or even a cropped sweater and boots for a more winter-ized look. Or maybe try wearing it on it’s own with unexpected sneakers. Or wear it with a longline duster in neutral colors to balance the blush tones. No matter what, it is a stand out piece that is also effortless. And that is what the ideal date night outfit is about – effortless elegance. Leave the jeans at home and try something new. Wear something that makes you feel awesome and pretty!
