One of first things I notice when shopping is the color of the garment and the texture of the fabric. Once I draped this coat over my shoulders, I knew I had to have it. I’m not one for color therefore, I usually choose pieces based on the texture and silhouette of the piece. If you know me, you know I don’t do pink. But I realized that a “dusty” version of difficult colors to love is the easiest way to slowly incorporate it into the wardrobe.
The coat and boots are an outfit elevate-r – in that no matter what I pair with it, it will instantly brighten and polish the outfit to a new level. That is the criteria of my investment pieces. I originally wanted these gorgeous Tibi boots but found a more minimalist, versatile version that I fell deeply in love with.
The key to the everyday polished look is to balance the outfit “elevate-r” pieces with the most simple, basic pieces such as my knit white sweater and black skort. Paired together it’s very simple – too simple. But add in the luxurious coat and boots – voilà – polished balance achieved.
